The IBSL is a statutory body incorporated by Act of Parliament No. 26 of 1979.
The Institute is an approved charity under section 31 (9)(a) of the Inland Revenue Act No. 28 of 1979
The Institute is the successor to the Banker’s Training Institute established in 1964.

College of Banking & Finance

  Is the training arm of the Institute.
Delivers 12,000 hours of teaching annually.
Conducts over 50 short and medium term training courses.
Course duration (1) one week to (9) nine months
Offers certificate and diploma courses
CBF/DBF lecture programmes conducted in Sinhala/Tamil/English.
Computer Courses – see Centre for Computer Studies.

  Registration of new members for the IBSL professional examination.
Update of members records and subscription.
Conduct annual convocation.
