Eligibility for Student Membership

Student membership of the Institute is open to

	Bank Employees
	Non Bank Employees
	School Leavers

Any person with the prescribed entry (academic) requirements may obtain membership.

How to Obtain Student Membership

	Send an application to the Director Member Relations
	Applications should be accompanied by
		Registration Fee Annual subscription Three Passport size photographs
	Candidates are required to obtain membership of the Institute at least 45 days before the closing date of examination applications.

Classes of Members

1.Student Members
Students registered for
	CBF/DBF examinations.
	Post Graduate Executive Diploma in Bank Management

2.Associate Members
Associate membership is open to
	AIB Diploma holders.
	DBF Diploma holders provided they possess 4 years continuous service in a recognized banking / financial institution.

3.Associate Members (Life)

Associate members may obtain life membership subject to a single commuted payment.

4.Fellowships
Fellows
Fellowships are awarded to senior associates of the Institute, For their contribution to the banking industry, education and research. See Fellowships regulation for other eligibility requirements. Fellows are required to renew fellowships annually.
Fellows (life)
Fellows may convert their fellowship to a life membership subject to a single commuted payment. Fellows who hold Associate (life) memberships may transfer their life memberships by paying the difference between Life Fellowship fee and Life Associate membership fee already made.
Fellows (Honorary)
Honorary Fellows are elected by the Governing Board
Men and women distinguished in
	Banking,
	Banking Education,
	Development of Banking in Sri Lanka,
	With outstanding contribution to the IBSL. are admitted as Honorary Fellows
Not more than 2 Honorary Fellowships are granted in a year

Membership Fees (as at December 2010)

Membership Rules

	Annual membership subscription is payable each calendar year not later than February.
	Membership may lapse for non-payment of annual subscriptions.
	Revalidation of a lapsed membership is subject to the payment of all arrears of subscriptions.
