Associate Memberships

The membership is open to those who have completed the professional examinations of DBF (old Syllabus), DABF, and HDBF along with relevant working experience in the banking and finance fields.

Qualified members recognized at the Annual Convocation of the IBSL, and they can claim the title, AIB and use with their names as internationally recognized professionals in Banking and Finance.

Associate Membership / AIB Sri Lanka

Eligibility Criteria for Associate Membership / AIB Sri Lanka with Effect from 01 July 2025.

    To become an Associate Member an applicant should;

    • Have completed DBF (Old) / DABF / HDBF (New) qualification of the IBSL , AND

    • Be either at the Managerial Level (Manager Grade or above) in a Bank / Licensed Finance Co. / Registered Leasing Co. OR

    • Be in a Bank / Licensed Finance Co. / Registered Leasing Co. with a minimum of 04 years’ work-based practical experience OR

    • Be in another Financial Institution / Corporate Body / Non-Financial Institution involving business operations connected with Banking & Finance with a minimum of 04 years’ working experience in an Executive Grade (Institutions recognized under this category are given below) AND

    • Submit his/her application duly recommended by the Head of HR /Head of the Division or Branch

    Other Financial Institutions / Corporate Bodies / Non-Financial Institutions Recognized by the IBSL for Award of Associate Life Membership
    1. Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilization & National Policies
    2. Insurance Companies
    3. Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka
    4. Authorized Primary Dealers
    5. Licensed Microfinance Companies
    6. Authorized Money Broking Companies
    7. Securities Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC)
    8. Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE)
    9. Licensed Stockbrokers
    10. Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka (CRIB)
    11. Lanka Clear (Pvt) Ltd
    12. Member Companies of Unit Trust Association
    13. Credit Rating Agencies
    14. Any other Financial / Non-Financial institution acceptable to the IBSL (At the discretion of the Governing Board)

Keep your membership details up to date - Instructions for candidates

Members are kindly requested to keep their membership details up to date to offer better service by the IBSL. Any of such requests for changes of personal details should accompany the following mandatory documentary evidences.

Name Changes
Certified copy of National Identity Card, Certificate of Birth, Marriage Certificate
(if necessary), and
an Affidavit
NIC Number Changes
Certified copy of NIC along with a Letter issued by the department of Registration of Persons
Other (Address /Contact Details
Members can easily update their
personal / official addresses and contact details (Mobile, email) online through their My IBSL Account. Any changes made to your contact details will be automatically reflected in the system. Manual requests for changes of contact details will not be accepted by the IBSL.

Copies should be certified by an officer holding a position not lower than of a Bank Manager /an Attorney at Law /Justice of Peace /Grama Niladari
